For all courses you will need to have the following:
A valid UK licence with the correct entitlement. For CBTs a
provisional licence is acceptable and this can be obtained from 15 years 9 months.

Be able to read a number plate with or without glasses:
20m for vehicles with a new style number plate
20.5m for vehicles with an old style number plate.
Have some knowledge and understanding of the Highway Code and can identify UK road signs.

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) 16+
50cc bike for 16+ year olds.
125cc bike for 17+ year olds.This is usually a one day course covering the 5 elements required by the DVSA in either Ely Cambridgeshire CB6 1BD or Landwade Exning Cambridgeshire CB8 7NG
The certificate issued on satisfactory completion of the course is valid for 2 years.

AM Mopeds 16+
With a valid CBT certificate and theory test certificate the AM moped test qualifies you to ride a 50cc moped below 4kw without L plates and you may carry a pillion passenger.

A1 Light Motorcycle Licence 17+
With a valid CBT certificate and theory test certificate the A1 test qualifies you to ride a 125cc bike up to 11kw without L plates and you may carry a pillion passenger.

A2 Motorcycle Licence 19+
With a valid CBT certificate and theory test certificate or A1licence, the A2 test qualifies you to ride a 500cc bike up to 35kw.
(When you have held an A2 Full Bike Licence for a minimum of two years you may upgrade to an unrestricted licence by taking another 2 part practical test on a bigger bike. This is called progressive access route.)

A Unrestricated Motorbike Licence 24+ (*21+)
With a valid CBT certificate and theory test certificate or A2 licence, the A unrestricted test must be done on a minimum engine power of 50kw and a minimum kerb weight of 180kg. This qualifies you to ride any bike.
We can supply an approved helmet, jacket (sizes small – xxxl), gloves, boots (sizes 4-12) and waterproof over trousers and high vis vests. All you need to wear is suitable trousers with no rips or tears in them.
